OUR STORY

Some time around
2012
We met while working in events. We both had a bit of a crush on each other, but our commitment to a two-year "will they, won't they?" phase and a sickening long-distance friendship that played out mostly over Facebook held strong.
2nd of December
2014
Sarah stayed with Alix on the Gold Coast while competing at a cheerleading competition. Alix was astounded at her abilities both on the Cheer Floor and the Dance Floor (at the after-party). We decided our friendship had run it's course and that it was time to start dating!
February
2016
We moved to Melbourne - the greatest city in the world!
2016-2021
Look at all these fun things we did!

TRavel &
AccOmmodation

Nutting Hill Villa is located just outside of Clunes in the Northern NSW Hinterland. We'll organise buses to and from central locations in Ballina and the surrounding areas for both the Wedding Day and Recovery Day.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible for guests to drive to the venue.

BALLINA...

Ballina is located around 30 minutes south of Byron Bay and 60 minutes south of the Gold Coast.

It has its own airport (Ballina Byron Airport), beautiful beaches, lush rainforests and hinterland and a wide range of accommodation options.

We'd love for the majority of our guests to stay in Ballina so we can keep the shuttle logistics as simple as possible. All of the recommended Hotel/Apartment options on this page are either a shuttle stop or are within a 5-minute walk of one.
GETTING THERE
Fly into Ballina Byron Airport (BNK) which is just on the outskirts of Ballina, approximately 10 minutes from the center of town.

Both Jetstar and Virgin fly into Ballina with prices averaging $180 each way. Jetstar regularly does sales so we suggest keeping an eye out, but don't leave it too late as there are limited flights per day!

Note that Virgin don't fly direct from Melbourne to Ballina, there is a stop-over in Sydney.
GETTING AROUND
Like most regional towns with airports, Ballina has plenty of Taxis. Uber has recently come to town but expect higher wait times and limited availability outside of peak times.

There are also private operators, like Richmond River Hire Cars, we assume similar to taxis but more reliable and with fancier cars!

Otherwise Ballina is a reasonably walkable town, especially if you're staying in Central or East Ballina and just want to be able to walk to the beach or a coffee shop.
ACCOMMODATION
There are a wide and varying range, from cheaper motels through to nicer hotels and serviced apartments, plus some AirBnBs scattered around the beachside areas.

Our recommended hotel pick is the Ramada, as they are centrally located, with a range of modern rooms AND they've provided us with a code for a discounted rate!

Otherwise, we've included a few other options for hotels below too, but if you're unsure, feel free to reach out!

...& SURROUNDS

Ballina is surrounded by many beautiful and unique towns along both the coast and in the hinterland and we'd love for you to make this trip your own, so if you'd like to arrange accommodation outside of Ballina, read on for our recommendations!

If you'd like to stay in nearby towns like Byron Bay, Lennox Head, Broken Head, Bangalow or surrounds, you will need to make your own way to one of the shuttle stops in Ballina. Most of these towns are serviced by Taxis and Uber, or you can also arrange private transfers.

If you're booking an AirBnB or other group accommodation in towns within 5-10km of Clunes, like Eltham, Alstonville, Bexhill, Wollongbar or Teven, please let us know on your RSVP as we will likely be able to accommodate shuttle pickups. These smaller towns are much harder to get Taxis or Ubers to and from, so we recommend having your own form of transport.
GETTING THERE
For surrounding towns you can either fly into Ballina Byron Airport (BNK) or Gold Coast/Coolangatta (OOL).

Ballina Byron Airport is roughly...
15mins from Lennox Head
20mins from Alstonville
30mins from Byron Bay & Clunes

Coolangatta Airport is roughly...
45mins from Byron Bay
60mins from Ballina, Lennox Head, Alstonville, Clunes
GETTING AROUND
Ubers become less reliable as you venture further away from the main towns of Ballina/Byron Bay, but Taxis can still be found in most places, although you may wait a bit longer, even when pre-booking (which we highly recommend!)

If you're planning on staying in a smaller town or flying into Gold Coast, we also recommend hiring a car which will make it much easier to get around. Car hire in Ballina is ~$100/day while the Gold Coast is ~$70/day.
ACCOMMODATION
In larger towns like Byron Bay, Alstonville and Lismore you will find some variety of hotels and apartments, with the odd motel or pub accommodation in the smaller towns.

The majority of accommodation options in smaller towns will be AirBnbs/private holiday rentals. These range from sprawling houses with pools to apartments and townhouses.

In smaller towns (like Clunes, Eltham, Bexhill, Teven etc) these houses are often outside of the town itself, so we recommend organising a hire car so it's easy for you to get around!
Questions?

WE HAVE ANSWERS

The dress code for the wedding & reception is formal attire - think floor length dresses or a suit and tie. Colourful outfits encouraged! We recommend bringing a jacket for the way home as the Byron Hinterland can get cool at night.

For the Recovery Day, please wear your beach club best. Imagine you're on holiday in a tropical beachside location and you just heard that your celebrity crush might be staying at the same resort.

Summer in Ballina is usually very warm (think on average between 24-28°C), perfect beach and holiday weather!

While it can get slightly cooler in the Hinterland, it will likely still be quite warm during the Wedding and Recovery days, but we'll make sure there's plenty of shade, ice cold drinks and fans to keep you cool.

It will likely cool down overnight, so we recommend bringing a jacket for the ride home.

The ceremony and reception will both take place at the beautiful Nutting Hill Villa. The ceremony will take place on an outdoor lawn and the reception will be held in an open-air marquee.

There is a short outdoor walk from the ceremony to the reception space. Please let us know if you have any accessibility concerns.

Unfortunately we have quite strict limitations on our guest list, but we have addressed your invitation so you know who made the cut. Thank you so much for understanding.

Due to council restrictions, all wedding guests will be need to arrive and depart the venue by bus. We have arranged buses for both the wedding day and recovery day which will depart from and return to Ballina.

Bus schedules are now live, check your pickup location and time on this page

We'd recommend you stay in Ballina where possible, as this is where we will be organising buses to depart from and return to.

We think the Ramada Suites Ballina is a great option as they have lots of rooms of varying sizes (from Hotel Rooms to Apartments) and have provided us with a preferred rate if you book and use the code. Contact Diana and the team at Ramada directly via phone 02 6618 1000 and use the code 505999 to get access to the above preferential rates.  Alternatively you can check out some of the other recommended hotels in Ballina by clicking here.

If you'd rather stay at one of the many beautiful towns in the surrounding areas, you will just need to make your way to Ballina to catch the bus. If you're staying within 15 minutes of Clunes in a holiday rental or AirBnb, please let us know when you RSVP so that we can check that a Wedding Day or Recovery Day bus can get to your location for pickup and dropoff.

One party is not enough! We would love you to come join us for a swim, some dancing and more delicious food and drinks the day after the wedding at Nutting Hill Villa. All you need to bring is your bathers and a towel and we'll take care of the rest.

We will arrange buses for all guests planning to return for Day Two, so please let us know if you can make it when you RSVP.

If you would like to drop in to the Recovery Day to say goodbye on your drive home, please let us know as there is very limited parking available and strict venue requirements for guest transport.

We are incredibly grateful for the effort you are making to join us for our wedding celebrations. Our only wish is for an amazing weekend spent with our family and friends.

If you would like to bring a card, we are hoping to collate these well wishes from our loved ones into a coffee table book after the wedding.

If you can't be persuaded, you might consider donating to one of our preferred charities in lieu of a gift: Rural Pride Australia or Pay the Rent.

Please RSVP by the 1st of September at the very latest. This is so we can organise the bus schedule and finalise plans with our suppliers.

If you're travelling from interstate we recommend trying to organise your flights and accommodation as early as possible, as it is a busy time of year!

Click here to RSVP - to access the RSVP form you'll need to enter your email address (this will be the same one that the invitation was sent to).

The RSVP form is setup so it will automatically load the guests in your party who are invited on each page. You just need to fill in your RSVP, any dietaries and let us know your accommodation plans.

If you need to update your response, you can do this by visiting the RSVP page and entering your email. The form will pre-populate your answers so you can change them accordingly.

We totally understand if you’re unable to join us. If you can’t make it and would still like to watch the ceremony, we'll be sending out a link to the live stream a few weeks before the wedding.

Feel free to reach out to either Alix or Sarah directly - if you don't have our phone numbers, shoot us an email first on acscwedding@gmail.com
